“More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of” is a very famous quote by Alfred Tennyson. My friend and sister-in-Christ Miranda Jackson has such a great idea-she has a lot of them. If you are a first grade teacher, you should follow her. I teach the older ones, and her creativity astounds me. This idea I and we are stealing from her. She gave me her permission:)
Read this post, and you will get the idea. We are going to have parents, friends, relatives and other interested parties pray for our kids. If you are a teacher or have a child in school, I know you do it already, but I want there to be an army of people praying specifically, possibly with a name. For me being a middle school teacher that teaches 6, 7, and 8, I am going to ask for people to commit to pray for one of my grade levels. I am going to ask them to bring to mind those difficult years and commit to pray for my 6th grade. I personally didn’t care for my middle school, then junior high, years. I went through the same growing physically, mentally, trying to figure yourself out years that I see my students going through now. I can honestly say that God had His hand on me, and I know my Sunday School teachers, church choir teacher, parents and others were praying for me. What if they hadn’t?
We see kids every day coming to school as if they have been on a battlefield, not entering one at school. So many do. Families are stressed, kids are stressed, our society is stressed…and hopeless. Oh, we believers know better, don’t we? Time for some big prayers.
Need a sample prayer?
Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to you on behalf of ________________. God, I know that you are Omnipotent, knowing so much more than we can think or imagine. God, you know this child’s every move. I pray that you would orchestrate the event of his/her life in order to bring her/him to a saving grace knowledge of your Son, Christ Jesus. I beg you for salvation for _________. Save him/her for all eternity, and save him/her from any current situations that are harmful, emotionally and/or physically. I pray a hedge of protection from the evil one around ________________. I pray for his/her family; I pray for salvation for all of them. May it begin with this child/student. I pray for his/her teacher __________________. God, give him/her wisdom and discernment that only comes from You. Help the glory of Christ Jesus to radiate from _______________ everyday in every way. Fill his/her with the peace of Almighty God.
In the powerful name of Jesus,
Let’s become a nation of warriors, never giving up. Share my precious friend Miranda’s idea with every Christian parent, praying partner of any kind. Let’s make this go viral.
Never underestimate what God can do when His people pray.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
