Teacher friends, here’s to you, as a sweet person said this weekend, “Y’all are the heroes.” Lots of people who serve so many everyday are, but I am honored to be counted among one of those professions. Hopefully this brings a smile, a moment of rest and a renewed courage to keep going back to the battle line, even if for one more day. Thank you to every teacher my daughters ever had, and to every teacher that I have had the privilege to serve alongside. You really are heroes.

Ok, so inservice or “PD” as it is now called is barely over and you are exhausted already, right? I know. As Miranda Nobles said once,“This is way beyond college exam week tired”. I see it in the eyes of our neebies on staff–that excitement mixed with raw FEAR. So, here’s the best advice that I have never forgotten from some of the best teachers in the world.
1. Get some sleep. You may find yourself going to bed at 8:00. It’s ok. It’s going to get better.
2. Now you want to know when it will get better? It seems to calm down after Labor Day. So get sleep, eat whatever, forget cleaning your house or apartment until the month doesn’t start with an “A” anymore. It’s survival time.
